IS LIVESUN LOVEMOON JEWELRY HANDMADE?
All jewelry sold by LiveSun LoveMoon is designed and handmade in the Midwest by our founder, Sarah. LSLM uses quality components like genuine gemstones, Czech glass beads, gold-plate, silver-plate, gold-fill and sterling silver. Components used, such as unfinished chain and earring findings, are only sourced from reputable vendors. All of the unfinished chains are personally worn and vetted by Sarah before a style is used for production.
CAN I PURCHASE A NECKLACE STYLE IN A CUSTOM LENGTH?
Yes! All necklaces and most bracelet styles can be made in custom lengths. Please see our BESPOKE page for additional information on semi-custom and custom orders.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU UPDATE YOUR SITE WITH NEW STYLES?
Sarah creates new styles every week, so our site is updated frequently. Certain best-selling styles are restocked regularly as well.
CAN I WEAR MY JEWELRY IN THE SHOWER?
To keep the finish of your LSLM jewelry lustrous, always remove jewelry before showering or swimming. It is also advised to remove before using spritzed hair products, hairspray, and similar aerosols that can oxidize the plating.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOLD-PLATED AND GOLD-FILLED?
GOLD-FILL is more expensive and a better quality material than GOLD-PLATE, as it's lifespan is comparable to solid gold. By federal law to be referred to as GOLD-PLATED, the gold layer used must be a minimum of .05 micron (and up to 2.5 microns). GOLD-FILL by comparison is a sold gold layer of at least 5% total weight. The finish on GOLD-FILL is typically a paler "cool" gold hue, whereas GOLD-PLATING is a richer and "warmer" gold hue. Like solid gold, GOLD-FILL jewelry can be worn in the shower or while swimming without fear of tarnish or degradation. With that said, the GOLD-PLATED jewelry components we use in our jewelry have been personally vetted (including being worn by Sarah's teenage daughter who has exceptionally sensitive skin). Everything we put into production has demonstrated exceptional wearability with minimal wear to the plating. With proper care, the appearance of your LSLM gold-plated jewelry should last for years.
HOW COME YOU DON'T USE GOLD-FILL EXCLUSIVELY?
As of November 2022, LSLM uses gold-fill for all wire-wrapping and jump rings. As for other components, it really comes down to supply and demand. The vast majority of metal charms, enamel charms, and pendants intended for fashion jewelry are gold-plated. The same goes for interesting and unique chain styles, such as our gold-plated brass 3D flower chain and our CZ Star chain. The manufacturing process for gold-fill creates design limitations for charms and medallions, which is why most of the gold-fill charms are simpler stamped styles. There are many beautiful styles of charms and medallions available in solid gold but this is cost-prohibitive to order as a stock item, and the type of jewelry item usually purchased from a fine jewelry retailer.
